All staff members of Building Blocks Christian Academy are dedicated to providing excellent education to the children in their care. The director and teachers meet the proper requirements of the state of California in early childhood education. This includes being well trained in areas of preventative health and safety practices. Teachers and staff at Building Blocks Christian Academy make it a priority to understand the development of young children. In this way, we are able to provide a program that reflects the developmental level of each child, enriching the child’s life with valuable educational experiences.
Kaylen Orr – Director and Teacher
Kaylen has been with Building Blocks Christian Academy since its start. She was hired in July 2013 to open the preschool. Before accepting the position at Building Blocks, Kaylen was lead teacher and director for four years at Ascension Lutheran Preschool in Escondido, California. Kaylen graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree. She double-majored in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. In addition to meeting state of California early childhood requirements, Kaylen holds a teaching license in the state of Minnesota with certifications for grades K-6, and a specialty in Social Studies grades 5-8. Kaylen is excited to help Building Blocks Christian Academy continue to grow and provide a loving, nurturing environment which maintains its high standards in excellent education.
Sarah Kuznicki – Teacher
Sarah was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. She recently graduated from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota with an Early Childhood Education Degree. She completed internships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and at the Early Childhood Learning Center in New Ulm, Minnesota. Sarah also holds a Minnesota teaching license. She was assigned to teach at Building Blocks Christian Academy in May 2015. Sarah looks forward to starting her career and to learn and grow as a new teacher with Building Blocks Christian Academy and with the children.
Sarah Gabb – Teacher
Sarah has lived in Los Angeles since 2007. Sarah has brings a wide variety of experience to our staff. She has a degree in Elementary Education from Martin Luther College, and has completed additional coursework in Early Childhood Education. Sarah has taught ESL courses in both New York City and Los Angeles and sixth grade in Wisconsin. In addition to her teaching credentials, she also brings her experience from raising her own three children, as well working with young children in a variety of volunteer settings.

Juely Moreira – Teacher’s Aide
Juely was born in Minas Gerais, Brazil and raised in São Paulo, Brazil. She graduated in General Administration in the Metropolitan University of Santos, SP Brazil. She has lived in California since April 2005. Juley has vast experience in working with young children as she has worked as a nanny caring for children from 0 to 13 years old. She received her certificate in ESL and a California certificate in Child Development at El Camino College in Torrance, CA. Juely genuinely enjoys working with young children and helping them learn and grow.
Aimee Nelson – Teacher’s Aide
Aimee was born and raised in Los Angeles. Over her 10 years in the field of preschool, Aimee has been exposed to Montessori, Reggio, and developmental approaches in education. She is nearing completion of the course work for her Early Childhood Education Certificate through UCLA Extension. Aimee loves engaging with children and is happy to be a part of the Building Blocks community.
Steven Gabb – Pastor, Gethsemane Lutheran Church
Pastor Steven Gabb, his wife Sarah, and their three children – Adia, Alexandra, and Anders – have been at Gethsemane since 2007. They enjoy meeting and getting to know our Mar Vista neighbors, and look forward to partnering with the families in our community.
